Adaptive Culture SIG
A Collaborative Learning Initiative
Brought to you by the Association for Talent Development (ATD-RTA) &
Triangle Organization Development Network (TODN).
Leaning into our long-standing partnership, ATD-RTA & TODN have created a new Special Interest Group (SIG) whose primary focus will be Adaptive Organizational Culture. This new SIG succeeds the previous ATD-RTA Culture-Change SIG that was started in 2021, led by Barry Borgerson.
We believe this initiative will be valuable to both organizations, its participants, and the entities with which we work. This SIG aligns to ATD-RTA and TODN charters in supporting our respective talent communities and related colleagues, and in partnership, we aim to leverage the interdisciplinary nature of our work and demonstrate our shared commitment to this endeavor. Our facilitators Barry Borgerson, Eric Blumenthal, Richard Kurth are all members of both organizations.
The ability to create an adaptive culture is critical in our increasingly complex world amidst a fourth industrial revolution. Technology changes occur at mind-boggling speed, continually changing the nature of how we live and work. Leaders at all levels are challenged with learning to manage socio-technical systems, while the humanization of the workplace has become an imperative for success. Changes to global economies impact the finances and social standing of US businesses here and abroad, as environmental threats create pressure to address global warming and the world continues to adjust to changes resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.
The Adaptive Culture SIG strives to create a community for curiosity, exploration and learning. We are colleagues and friends who are interested in understanding the organizational cultures we inhabit, and our own contributions to them. And we come together as practitioners to explore ideas, share experiences, and dig into research and practices that guide us.
Logistics for the Adaptive Culture SIG:
Kick-off Date: Thursday, February 9, 2023
~ The SIG will meet (virtually) monthly on the 2nd Thursday of each month.
Time: 5:30pm – 7:00pm

Once registered, a Zoom meeting link will be sent via email prior to the event.
Attached is the tentative charter for the Adaptive Culture SIG. In an effort to create the greatest possible value for our participants, we will use the first meeting to do some inquiry and gain insights from attendees as to how we can leverage this initiative and maximize participants’ desire to participate. We look forward to vigorous exploration and creating a valuable learning experience for all.
